In the province of Chiriqui you can find a mountainous sector that captivates visitors with its cool climate and the beauty of its landscapes. The community of Jurutungo has access to the International Park of La Amistad (PILA), a protected area and World Heritage Site granted by UNESCO.
One of the community groups that has ventured into tourism in the area is the Asociación de Productores Agro Ecologistas La Amistad (ADPAELA).
ADPAELA is an organization that promotes the conservation and protection of the area, specifically the PILA. They offer visitors hiking experiences within the park, visits to the fields, as well as lodging services.
On the interpretative tours through the trails of the tropical rainforest, visitors can admire quetzals or find howler monkeys, which leave the forest early in the morning and at sunset to feed.

Visit to the Quijada del Diablo
2 hours from David, in the direction of Volcán, on the Interamerican highway, turn right on the Volcán road. You will arrive at the village of Jurutungo, where you can ask for the Asociación de Productores Agro Ecologistas de la Amistad (ADPAELA). You will be welcomed by Felix, Cledis Pitty and Joseth Pitty.
You can stay at the Cabaña Ecológica La Amistad, which is managed by the community. It can accommodate up to 30 people and has a communal kitchen, a dining room and a meeting room.
15 minutes from the lodge you will find the refreshing restaurant 31:10 Piedra de Candela, a restaurant of community actors. Its food is based on the local gastronomy of Chiriqui.
