In this adventure, we will discover why Panama's biodiversity and culture is as varied as its people. A journey to distinguish flavors, traditions and the vast nature of the Caribbean coast. We will visit Colon, one of the Panamanian Caribbean provinces characterized by its vibrant colors, crystal clear beaches, ancestral culture and exquisite gastronomy. Our destination has three World Heritage Sites declared by UNESCO: San Lorenzo Castle, Portobelo Fortifications and the Congo Culture, the latter considered Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
Recharge your energy walking through tropical trails appreciating exotic species such as trogons and howler monkeys and enjoy the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean beaches. You will learn more about Afro colonial history and cook ancestral recipes full of tradition.

The journey begins boarding the first transoceanic railroad in the world and we will arrive directly to the city of Colon to learn about its history and how it became one of the most important places in the region at the beginning of the last century. We will visit the public market to learn about the ingredients that make the local cuisine unique and continue to the lower coast of Colon, until we reach GatunCrocs, a village on the shore of Lake Gatun in the town of Cuipo. At sunset, we take a kayak ride on Gatun Lake.
Waking up to the sound of howler monkeys and accompanying coffee with birdsong is a dream come true in the Costa Debajo de Colón. After breakfast, we will go to the community of Achiote to walk along the El Trogón trail in search of this exotic bird. On the way back, we will have lunch prepared by the women of the community. We continue our way to the Costa Arriba de Colon, where we will be received in Portobelo to have a night of Congo culture full of rhythm and color. Overnight at Hotel Casa Congo.
After the Caribbean breakfast and tour of the crystalline beaches of the Costa Arriba: Isla Grande, Isla Mamey, natural pool and mangrove tunnel. In the afternoon, the artisans will be waiting for you for a workshop on the Congo drum and the different tunes for this dance. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Casa Congo.
Prepare your own Caribbean lunch in an Afro-Colonial food workshop with Chef Leticia Levy, award-winning chef of traditional Afro-Caribbean cuisine.
Return to Panama City.
