BOCAS DE TORO

Meet the last indigenous monarchy in the Americas

Bonllik es una de las 11 comunidades de la Comarca Naso Tjër, ubicada a lo largo de río Teribe, en el  Parque Internacional La Amistad, entre Panamá y Costa Rica.

Motivated by their dependence on the rainforest, the Naso have fought for and succeeded in imposing strict regulations prohibiting the exploitation and overuse of the area's natural resources. As a result, they have been able to preserve their own traditions, beliefs and idiosyncrasies. Their monarchy, unique among native peoples, has managed to resist the European invasion and survive to this day.

In Bonllik visitors can take part in the ancestral activities of the Naso culture, such as the cultivation and harvesting of organic cocoa, banana and palm heart orchards, practice artisanal fishing, the handling of bow and arrow, or enjoy delicious dishes with local ingredients. Explore the Naso Trail hand in hand with the heirs of the land of their ancestors.
