Located at the entrance of the Chagres district, on the shores where the Spanish conquistadors settled in the 15th century, the Achiote community is a reference of community empowerment.
Because of its proximity to the San Lorenzo protected area, which is home to 436 species of birds, Achiote is one of the best places in the world for bird watching.
At the El Tucan Community Center visitors can learn the secrets of the exquisite flavors of the Caribbean, cooking with local experts. And in the summer season, they will be able to experience various adventures in the local farms, and experience the process of harvesting, drying and grinding coffee, while contributing to maintaining the richness of biodiversity.
